Between the end of June and the start of July, a total of 9 Spanish doctors will travel to Ebebiyin in Equatorial Guinea, a town located near the border with Cameroon and Gabon, where they will treat patients from these three countries.

Carlos Vara, a retired professor of surgery, will head up this group of medical professionals who will travel to the hospital of Ebebiyin together with their equipment. The team visited the under-equipped hospital in Ebebiyin in March to decide what equipment they would need for this campaign.

Cardiva will participate in this solidarity initiative by donating surgical equipment for the operations that will be carried out.

Crisanto-Ebang Abeso a Jesuit working in Malaga where most of the doctors are from, explained to Europa Press the importance of helping these people and extended his gratitude to the “la Caixa” Foundation for its involvement and financial support, as well as that of Maskom the El Pimpi Foundation. He also thanked Cardiva for supplying the surgical equipment.

The team of doctors will set off from Malaga at the end of the month and will employ modern surgical techniques to treat abdominal wall disorders, breast diseases, colorectal disorders, lipomas, and cutaneous tumours, and urological conditions.
